Kushari is a popular Egyptian dish made with rice, lentils, pasta, and a spicy tomato sauce. Here's how you can cook it:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup lentils
- 1 cup elbow macaroni
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions:
1. Rinse the lentils and rice separately under cold water.
2. Cook the lentils in a large pot of boiling water until tender, about 20-25 minutes. Drain and set aside.
3. In a separate pot, cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
4. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions and set aside.
5. In a large skillet, heat some vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
6. Add the minced garlic, cumin, paprika, and cinnamon to the skillet and cook for another minute.
