What began as an idea for a German-Filipino self-sustaining community in Mauban, Quezon, is now revealing itself as so much more: a gateway to resilience, prosperity, and hope in an increasingly uncertain world.
For 20 years, I have connected the dots, trusting that this vision was meant for a moment like today. I cannot predict what tomorrow will bring, but the signs are all around us, impossible to ignore. This winter in Berlin, as sabotage left so many without heat and light in the depths of cold, we felt firsthand how fragile our daily comforts and security can be. Our collaborating partners in China share this concern: all indicators point to a new era of global tension, a cold war on the horizon that will touch every life in Germany and across Europe. These challenges are not distant threats – they are realities we must prepare for now.
But here is the good news: we do not have to face these times alone, or without hope. We have been given an extraordinary opportunity: access to vast stretches of land across the Philippines, from north to south, including a 30,000-hectare pilot project and an exclusive 4,000-hectare island in Cagbalete. Supported by 2.33 million Overseas Filipino Workers around the world – a community known for its spirit of bayanihan (collective unity and mutual aid) – we have built a foundation for a future where security and prosperity go hand in hand.
