When you drink alcohol, your body perceives it as a toxic substance and therefore the liver comes into work to try and detoxify it .
The liver breaks down the alcohol into less harmful substance called Acetate which is further broken down to release carbon dioxide and water which your body can easily eliminate ensuring your body and all other organs are safe.
However the liver can only process a certain amounts of alcohol in your body, so when you continuously and frequently take alcohol over long periods of time, the liver gets overwhelmed and can no longer effeciently keep the toxic substances in alcohol from getting into the bloodstream and harming your other organs.
This strain on the liver and its inability to continue properly detoxifying the toxic substances can lead to serious and fatal conditions on the liver such as:

1.Fatty Liver (Steatosis): This is the earliest stage, where fat accumulates in liver cells. It often has no symptoms but is a warning sign. It's usually reversible if alcohol consumption stops.

2.Alcoholic Hepatitis: This is an inflammation of the liver, caused by repeated damage from alcohol. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, jaundice (yellow skin/eyes), and fever. It can range from mild to severe and life-threatening.

3.Cirrhosis: This is the most severe and irreversible stage. Persistent inflammation and damage lead to the formation of scar tissue that replaces healthy liver tissue. This scarring impairs the liver's ability to function properly, leading to liver failure.

Due to the livers inability to work, alcohol consumption can lead to devastating effects such as brain damage, high blood pressure, Gastritis, Immune system damage and Cancer(liver, pancreatic, throat, breast and stomach )

Therefore, if possible stop or limit your alcohol consumption to save your liver.Your body depends on it.!!
